When I first began my intensive study of Psalm 46:10 in the summer of 2015, and before Nexus Prayer even had a name, I asked God to help me find inspired photographers, artisans, graphic designers, and artists who appreciated the vision of Nexus Prayer, and with whom I could collaborate. God continues to answer that prayer today with some very talented creatives whose work you will discover throughout this site, but none more dedicated and gifted than photographer, Erin Theisen.
Erin’s love of God, family, nature, and photography made her a natural choice for providing the vast majority of beautiful, inspired photos that accompany my blog posts and pages of this site. In fact, it is one of her photos (my personal favorite) that greets every visitor to this website’s home page, and likewise adorns the Nexus Prayer business – God’s business – card. But, Erin tells her own story best …
“Hello! My name is Erin Theisen, and I’m from Nebraska. I’m a stay-at-home mom of three young boys that keep me very busy each and every day. A normal week for us involves spending a lot of time outdoors or on the family farm, church activities, grocery trips, household chores, driving to school, and… photography!
I love taking pictures of my children just being themselves. I also enjoy taking scenic landscape photos. And my kids love an adventure, so if we can walk through the pasture and take photos or go on a drive down an unfamiliar road, it’s fun for everyone. My husband is a farmer alongside my grandpa, uncle, dad, and brother, so I have found that I really enjoy photographing them all at work.
Psalm 46:10, “Be still, and know that I am God”, is such a calming verse to me. We lead very busy lives (as I’m sure you all do!) and I know as my children grow it will only get busier.
This verse is a reminder that in the midst of it all we can stop and take time to build a relationship with God.
This verse also reminds me to slow down and take in the “small” moments. Running from here to there can be fun for awhile, but it’s exhausting. By making a point to “be still” we add so much value and meaning to our lives. To take time and recognize that God is in control can help us prioritize and determine what really matters, and takes so much stress off of our shoulders. With the help of Nexus Prayer and this ministry, I am eager to add more “Be Still, and Know that I am God” time to my day.” – Erin Theisen
Editor’s note: If you enjoy Erin’s photography as much as I do, I encourage you to visit her Etsy store, HeadNTheCloudsImages where you can purchase her photographs, note cards, home decór, and more. Of course, you can also purchase her note cards created exclusively for Nexus Prayer here in our very own gift shop. – aaw
